  1. Oh Jen,

I feel for you. I have had 2 or 3 of those. Not fun. Get meds quickly, it will help. Also, they say to drink cranberry juice. Maybe it's not so bad mixed in 7-up

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. Yes, I agree with Melissa. They're nothing to mess with as the infection could spread to your kidneys. I've had kidney stones, a UTI three times and a kidney infection once. Ouchy! xxoo

  7. Hi Jen,
I'm not sure about making soy yogurt. I love soy as well but haven't tried it. I'm sure you could substitute soy milk for the milk and soy yogurt for the starter. The starter yogurt (you only need 2 tablespoons) has to have the live culture in it so you'd have to check the label. You may also be able to buy soy yogurt starter at the health food store.

  8. I haven't EVEN been able to "tap in" this week, 'cause I've been SWAMPED at the JOB! Well, since we've only known each other our whole lives, you know that I have a LENGTHY and continuing history of UTI's - miserable indeed! Have you been to the doctor? You MAY have to break down and get on some antibiotics (which usually have miserable side effects as well!) I usually DON'T anymore, because, I've built up an IMMUNITY to them! Go figure! So -agree with other posters - drink lots of water, and cranberry juice is really good for stabilizing the acidity of your urine as a PREVENTITIVE measure (doesn't help so much once you're in the throes of one, but I LOVE it ANYWAY - with OR without vodka - ha!) To cope with the misery when it's at its peak, get you some Azo standard tablets in the OTC section of the grocery store. They will give you SOME relief, although you'll be p------ ORANGE! I just realized this was on Tuesday - hopefully by now you are feeling BETTER!

  9. Thanks for the kind words and commiseration! I'm feeling considerably better today. I didn't see the doctor, but have been taking Azo (Judi, you're right -- the color those little pills turn your tee-tee is hideous, not to mention somewhat frightening the first time you notice what it's done!), and drinking lots of water and green tea. I think in the next day or so I'll be back to normal (or, as "normal" as I get anyway ;-)).

Laura, thanks so much for the tip on making the soy yogurt! I'm very interested in learning more about this!
